Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Dublin, Ireland, with a group of 40 travel agents hosted by Brendan Vacations. Over the course of three days, we immersed ourselves in the charm and history of this vibrant city, ticking off iconic sights, indulging in local culture, and gaining an even deeper appreciation for Dublin’s unique spirit.
Highlights of Our Dublin Adventure
EPIC The Irish Immigration Museum
One of the most memorable stops was the EPIC The Irish Immigration Museum, a fascinating and interactive experience that takes visitors on a journey through Ireland’s rich emigrant history. Located in the Docklands, this museum highlights the stories of the Irish diaspora and their global impact. For me, this visit was especially meaningful as my grandfather immigrated to the U.S. in the 1940s. It’s amazing to see the impact of the Irish people around the world, and this museum beautifully showcases not just the challenges of emigration but also the incredible accomplishments and contributions of the Irish people. From digital displays to immersive storytelling, EPIC offers a thought-provoking and emotional experience. It’s no surprise it has been voted Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction multiple times! I highly recommend allocating a few hours here to fully appreciate its depth and innovation.
Guinness Storehouse
Another must-see was the world-famous Guinness Storehouse, which felt like stepping into a beer lover’s Disneyland. This seven-story experience walks visitors through the brewing process, the history of Guinness, and the brand’s iconic advertising campaigns. The tour culminates at the Gravity Bar on the top floor, offering panoramic views of Dublin’s skyline while you sip on a perfectly poured pint of Guinness. For those feeling adventurous, there’s a fun tradition called “Splitting the G,” where you attempt to drink your pint until the foam perfectly aligns with the center of the Guinness logo’s “G.” Several in our group tried it, and one even succeeded! I tried a wee sip, but ultimately decided I prefer my Guinness in a hearty Irish stew rather than as a drink. (I know, it’s an unpopular opinion!) Regardless, the experience is entertaining and memorable whether you’re a Guinness enthusiast or just curious.
Jameson Distillery Mixology Class
Another highlight was the Jameson Distillery. My colleague Gayle booked a mixology class here, and she said it was a super fun activity that would be perfect for a date night in the city. During the class, she learned how to craft the perfect cocktail using Jameson whiskey, guided by an expert mixologist. Gayle said the experience was not only educational but also a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture in a fun and interactive way. If you enjoy a good cocktail or are just looking for a unique Dublin experience, this should definitely be on your list!
Temple Bar District
We also spent time exploring the lively Temple Bar district, known for its cobblestone streets, colorful pubs, and vibrant energy. While this area is famous for its nightlife, we explored it during the day to enjoy a quieter side of its charm. The street art and boutique shops gave us a taste of Dublin’s creative pulse. On Saturdays, the area hosts a delightful food market that’s definitely worth a visit when the weather is good, where you can sample local artisanal products, fresh produce, and tasty treats. If you visit in the evening, expect a bustling scene with live music pouring out of the pubs.
Grafton Street
No trip to Dublin is complete without a visit to Grafton Street, the city’s premier shopping destination. Lined with high-end stores, charming boutiques, and street performers, it’s a wonderful spot to soak in the city’s hustle and bustle. Be sure to stop by Brown Thomas, a luxury department store, or simply wander and take in the atmosphere. Don’t forget to grab a coffee at one of the nearby cafés and do some people-watching!
St. Patrick’s Cathedral
We rounded out our trip with a guided city tour that offered a broader perspective of Dublin’s history and landmarks. One of the highlights was St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Ireland’s largest cathedral and a stunning example of Gothic architecture. Many in our group spent time inside, admiring the soaring ceilings, intricate stained glass, and historical artifacts. It’s a peaceful space that offers a glimpse into Ireland’s religious heritage.

- Plan Ahead: Dublin’s popular attractions can get busy, so book tickets in advance for places like the Guinness Storehouse and EPIC Museum.
- Walk the City: Dublin is a very walkable city. Strolling through its streets allows you to uncover hidden gems and soak in the local vibe.
- Take Your Time: Many travelers rush through Dublin, but if your schedule allows, plan an extra day or two to truly soak up the city’s vibrant atmosphere. Whether you’re relaxing in one of the city’s many parks, enjoying a leisurely coffee at a café, or simply people-watching along Grafton Street, Dublin’s charm is best experienced at a slower pace.
